2018 Annual Meeting Minutes
Outgoing president Ted Gale called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm and welcomed the 55 people attending to the 66th year of annual meetings.
Mr. Gale introduced our speaker for the meeting, Jeremiah Pearson, the Tree Warden/Park Superintendent for the Town of Falmouth. Mr. Pearson provided an overview of his role in maintaining and preserving trees in the town and talked about the new strategy for replacing storm-damaged elm trees on Davisville Road. Homeowners would be asked to allow new trees to be planted on their property behind the sidewalks and to water the new trees; maintenance would be provided by the town. New disease-resistant varieties will be planted. Mr. Pearson answered several questions posed by association members.
Because of the threatening rain, Mr. Gale then moved the order of the meeting agenda to prioritize the election of new officers. The proposed slate was presented and approved by unanimous voice vote.
Dean Lundgren is our new President; Mike Kinney, Vice President; John Driscoll, Treasurer; and Diane Collette, Secretary.
Mr. Gale then described the roles and terms of the Board of Directors and noted that we had one opening. Joe Sullivan and Carol McLeod were unanimously elected to a board term ending in 2020; Priscilla Moor, Clayton Moore, and Dennis Conry were reelected to terms ending in 2021.
Mr. Gale thanked the Kinneys for once again hosting the event, and he expressed appreciation to Maureen O’Donnell for providing refreshments, to the Mieles for the use of their sound system, and to Nancy Driscoll for preparing and putting up signs for the meeting.
Last year’s Annual Meeting minutes were approved by voice vote.
The Treasurer’s report was presented by John Driscoll.
The association has approximately $7000 in the bank.
Mr. Gale reported that the Board approved a $500 donation to the East Falmouth library.
Barbara Schneider reminded members of the Selectmen’s input meeting for the East Falmouth community to be held on August 18 from 9-10:30 am, and announced a fund-raising event at the Dog Park.
Mike Kinney provided members with an update on the Menauhant Bridge project; the project now awaits approval by the Army Corps of Engineers. Several members raised questions about possible beach improvements, and it was suggested that people try to attend the Coastal Resilience Committee meeting on July 31 at Town Hall.
Our new president, Dean Lundgren, then thanked Ted Gale for his years of service as president and presented him with a gift from the association. Mr. Lundgren then introduced himself and shared information about his family’s ties to Davisville.
The next annual meeting will be scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 4:00 pm on the lawn of the Kinney home, the same site as in recent years.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 5:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted by Terry Pomper.
